Currently putting the verrry finishing touches on my Master’s Thesis. You know, the more I read through this & tweak little bits here & there, the prouder I am, the less anxiety I have about it. I done good, dammit.
Holy fuck. I am printing out 20,000 words & 72 pages to hand in to my advisor tomorrow. It is only the first half of the Thesis, too.
(See also, this is not even The Actual Book that I am working on. This thesis is basically a de Vries’ Greatest Hits Collection that I am turning in to get an English MA. The MFA Thesis is The Actual Book, and I turn that in Fall semester.)
Anyway, now that I have done this work, the work on the second half feels REALLY EASY. It all feels like a somersault downhill from here! Seriously! Wheeee! :)
Officially ***DOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNE*** WITH THE SEMESTER! Now it is Chow time.
Talking Heads “Pull Up The Roots” from Speaking In Tongues. God, SO GOOD. It is totally making me bounce around in my chair as I finish my Process Notes/Artist’s Statement* for my “Mad Girls Bad Girls” (a class) Final Project** for skool*** this semester.
*Which, by the way, are the most intensive & detailed process notes I think I’ve ever written about anything. Apparently I haz a lot to say about this work? This is good!
**AKA: New & tentative & foetal chapters of my new manuscript, The Record (!).
***I am starting a new tag in this blog for when I write about skool: ACADEMONIA****, a la Dodie Bellamy, who is both one of my favorite writers & one of my favorite profs.
****Yeah, so, there are things that can be annoying about skool & about academia, and I am so Finals Fried. But for the most part? I love every single thing I’m doing and I love my graduate program. SF State is a good place for me & has been really good to me.
