The dryer in the washer/dryer set in my garage (I live in an old house that has been converted into an apartment complex) is no longer working. It turns on and goes thru the motions, but there’s no heat/air coming in any more (?), so it’s not getting clothes dry. My landlord is refusing to fix it because “Tenants shouldn’t be using the washer/dryer! That was not included in anybody’s lease!” Um. Okay, I “apologized” and said I “understood.” Even though everyone who lives in this complex has been using the washer/dryer at least since I’ve lived here (3 years!). I’m sorry, but if they don’t want us to use the washer/dryer, they should not leave them hooked up in the garage.
Anyway, I guess now I have to fix it myself, or talk to my neighbors about fixing it. Anybody have any ideas about what’s going on? If I must invest a little bit of money into this (like, if there is a part at the hardware store I should get — I’m not about to hire a repair person, that’d be way too much $$), I actually might make that investment. It is worth it to my disabled/graduate student/working-on-a-book self to have free laundry 10 feet from my apartment.

My boyfriend says it might be the heating element. He also says to check out Repairclinic.com. Good luck!

if there is no heat it’s probably a gas issue. you could youtube how to turn the gas on and see if that helps. you might also check out taskrabbit and see if you could find someone to do it for cheap.
