healing is incremental.
Seattle has been extraordinarily healing for me. In a lot of ways, I am happier than I have been in a long, long time. And? Last night, in bed, I still could not fucking sleep. I tossed & turned & gnashed my teeth & generally flailed about and saw the sun rise through my window and finally fell asleep after dawn and woke up around 10. I had a lot of Sad Sad Missing My Sweet Sweet...

Please oh please keep signal-boosting my Ask for...
Folks, I am so thankful for all the love & money that has come my way since I’ve launched this fundraising campaign, but I still gotta long way (as in, roughly another $5,200) to go. If you can, please oh please oh PLEASE keep the signal boosts on this coming. The big money donations are, of course, awesome, but the $5 + $10 + $20 + $25 donations also really add up. And bless you, all of...

I am sitting at a cafe in Seattle that is baaaaasically the Seattle version of Twin Peaks (which is my favorite bar in San Francisco). But, like, with coffee instead of booze. And decorated by somebody’s slightly butch gay uncle instead of decorated by somebody’s slightly butch gay grandpa. There are lots of sweet old queer men & comfy chairs & tiny precious lamps everywhere....

I read what you said and I hear you.
I wish I could tell you my everyday, the constant barrage of micro-assaults and micro-aggressions I deal with. I wish you could feel what it’s like to live in a body that’s read as Black, male, large, imposing—a threat. To feel the weight of it as move…

Portland rolly bag help, oh please? :)
Portland peoples! The zipper on my rolly backpack is busted, so I am wondering about two things:
1) Are there any good, relatively cheap tailors in Pdx (preferably in SE) who could repair the zipper on said bag?
Or, failing that, 2) Do you know of good places to go buy a new rolly backpack?
I would prefer to spend less than $60 either way, as that is how much I paid for this bag. It has treated...

I do have visible scars. Up and down the outside of my thighs. They are brown, like me. Just in different shades. Some Carolina-clay-colored, others more of a deep pecan. Most people who notice them nowadays are kinky. They think of them as beautiful. I’m…

It’s been a rough, stupid night after a rough, stupid day. I could use some kind words.

holy wow.
A bit more than 24 hours after I launched this personal fundraising campaign, and 33 beautiful, beautiful people have contributed over $1,400 online (and about a dozen have written to me and asked where they can send checks, too). I’m, like, stupefied. And I’m also wondering — if *this* is what happened today, in just one day, what will tomorrow and the next day and the next day...

a little verklempt...
12 hours later, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude at the outpouring of love & support I’ve received after asking for help with getting out of medical debt. Thank you, Beloveds. And *please*, keep spreading the word — email your friends about this, put it up on facebook, re-post, re-blog, re-tweet, etc. I’ve still got a long way to go before my goal is reached.

Beloved Community... (Asking for Help) →
After much urging from friends & mentors, I’m starting an Indie-Go-Go campaign to get myself out of $8,000 (yikes) of combined medical & dental debt. Please consider donating — no amount is too small, and every bit helps. If you’re not able to make a monetary donation, please consider spreading the word about this campaign. Re-post, share, blog, tweet about it, etc. Every...

Pervocracy: Green Flags →
Oh, this is so smart and fabulous!
hobbitdragon:
But the mere absence of red flags doesn’t really say anything good about a person, does it? “I went on a date with the most wonderful guy! I don’t think he’ll emotionally or physically abuse me! What a catch!” So let’s talk about green flags. (Um. White flags? …Cyan…

Good-bye, Mister Maupin.
So, I’ve heard through the internet grapevine that Armistead Maupin is moving from San Francisco to Santa Fe, NM.
Armistead, maybe you will find this online. Maybe you won’t. On the off chance that you do come across this farewell, I’m writing this in the second-person. Consider this my love letter to you.
I wish you & your beloved Chris very well on your journey. I hope...

Happy Birthday, Tobi! →
It is Tobi’s birthday tomorrow — YAY! Please pitch some money & love towards her awesome new project (Doing It Again: In-Depth, a sort of documentary follow-up to Doing It Ourselves: The Trans Women Porn Project) and help her reach her fundraising goal for her birthday! Even just $5-$10 from enough people could make a big difference.

how do i snap out of this and ACTUALLY WRITE?
So, I’m ostensibly in Portland on Writing Retreat. I’ve been here since last Tuesday night. For the first days I was here, especially considering how hard the heartbreak was hitting me in SF and how badly I thumped the weekend before I left due to a fibro flare, I was willing to just let myself settle in and rest. And a lot of my sad around the break-up actually alleviated. A change of...

Hey, fellow LAURIE ANDERSON FANS, help me out plz?
Yo, LAURIE ANDERSON FANS who might be reading this: Do any of you have digital copies of her albums Home of the Brave, Bright Red, or The Ugly One With The Jewels? Would you be willing to put them into Dropbox for me? Or, if you live in Pdx, would you be willing to make me a cd? I have (well-worn) copies of all these albums back home, but I stupidly forgot to import them into (onto? which...

I just received a comment posted to my Butch Trans Women Panel video

ATTENTION PORTLAND PEOPLES:
I think I would like to have a bicycle or adult tricycle at my disposal while I’m in yr fair city for five weeks, as I have heard Pdx is very bike-able. Does anyone in my network have a spare bike I could borrow? Or even rent or buy for cheap?
I’m 4’11”, so I definitely need a bike for short people. (Many kids’ bikes work great for me;...

Portland, here I come!
So, I’m going to Portland, OR for five weeks starting on Tuesday. It’s a working vacation/writer’s retreat, as I’m finishing a draft of my novel. I’m also hoping the change of pace & scenery will help ease some of this heartache.
Some things:
1) I’m staying with friends and house-sitting, but I’m also keeping my eyes peeled for more house &...

independence day
I got lost in Sausalito tonight, on the shoulder of the road.
I don’t know Sausalito at all. The bus driver told me that I was at the right stop and waved me off with a smile, but once I was off the bus, it was clear to me that I was not in the right place. I was supposed to meet up with my friend Sara at the Spencer Avenue Bus Pad, which is a transit hub. Then we were going to drive...
